In
the January, 2004 issue of San
Diego Magazine, an article discussing
the "up and comers" to watch featured
Regina
Petty, Partner with Wilson, Petty,

the article appears below:
Our annual
list of individuals worth keeping an eye on.

These San Diegans have all
given us cause to suspect they’re up
to something—mostly good. They are scientists
and sheriffs. Writers and artists. Businessfolk
and breast-cancer survivors. They’re
on TV. They’re on the hot seat. They
legislate, articulate and congregate. Our
notables dribble and pass, draw within the
lines and work well with others. To them we
say: Go ahead and do what you do—we’ve
got our eyes on you.

When the Padres bid adios
to the Q, five additional months of prime
marketing opportunities appeared for the stadium.
The Qualcomm Stadium Advisory Board, with
Petty as chair, must recommend events to book
that will best boost city coffers. Concerts
with major star power? Maybe, but definitely
plan on seeing more monster-truck shows and
motorcycle rallies, says Petty, a product-liability
attorney, noting the Q’s huge popularity
as a vehicle venue. New marketing plans will
target private-party planners, too. A corporate
rollout for the field? No problem. Ditto a
smaller affair that takes attendees behind
the scenes to locker and training rooms. Then,
of course, there’s the tricky Chargers
lease issue; the advisory board provides guidance
to the city on that, too.
