Happy Dad: Attorney Rob
Shields is singing the praises of his
law firm — San Diego-based Wilson
Petty Kosmo & Turner. He’s
worked there for more than three years.
On March 19, Shields became
the proud papa of triplets. They are Hannah
Lynne, Caroline Grace, and Zachariah Robert.
Wilson Petty gave Shields
the luxury of a flexible work schedule often
during his wife’s high-risk pregnancy.
He went along to every doctor’s visit.
When his wife, Cheryl, was hospitalized during
the pregnancy and for nearly three weeks before
delivery, Shields took off a day or two here
and there. He’d come in late some mornings
or take off early evenings.
After delivery, the babies
spent three weeks in the hospital. Again,
Dad came in late, opted for long lunches or
left early in the evening.
Shields kept up his hours,
though, often working from Cheryl’s
bedside, the hospital lobby, or parking lot.
"I had to be creative,”
he said.
But Shields remains appreciative
of a firm that would provide plenty of flexibility
for so many months. By the way, the triplets
are fine.
Shields doles out cigars
everywhere he goes. “Most people only
get to give out one cigar. I get to give out
three. It’s been a hoot,” he said.
