Claudette
Wilson has been at the forefront of "firsts"
for women in the San Diego legal community
and has helped open doors for many. She was
the first woman president of the Association
of Business Trial Lawyers, San Diego Chapter.
Wilson founded the firm of Wilson, Petty,
Kosmo & Turner and was the firm's first
female attorney and partner.
Wilson charted new territory
for women attorneys who wanted to combine
career and family. She fought to become one
the first San Diego attorneys to be approved
for part-time work following the birth of
her twins in 1986. Until that time, no local
law firms had flex options for women. Wilson's
arrangement set the standard for part-time
legal opportunities that many attorneys utilize
today.
Wilson is viewed as one
of the top employment lawyers in San Diego.
She shares this knowledge with others through
numerous published articles, lectures and
through her work in the San Diego County Bar
Association, the Lawyer's Club Sexual Harassment
Task Force and her position as lawyer representative
to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference from
1999 to 2001.
