Regina A. Petty is a
partner at WPKT. Ms. Petty's practice combines
employment, products liability and business
litigation and advice to public entities.
Her practice in state and federal courts
includes the representation of manufacturers,
retailers and employers at the trial and
appellate court levels and in federal multi-district
and regional mass-tort litigation. Ms. Petty
is admitted to practice in California and
before the United States Supreme Court. She
is chief legal advisor for the San Diego
County Employees Retirement Association and
the Southeastern Economic Development Corporation.
Ms. Petty defends manufacturers,
retailers or distributors of products in vast
array of liability suits ranging from medical
products to automobiles. She has earned the
reputation as one of the state’s leading
litigators representing corporations in product
liability and mass tort litigation by being
involved in the defense of such high profile
cases as Union Carbide's breast implant litigation
and Johnson & Johnson's latex glove litigation.
Ms. Petty has also served as liaison counsel
for all retailer and distributor defendants
in the PPA coordinated litigation involving
over-the-counter cough and cold medications
and weight loss products.
Ms. Petty represents employers
in lawsuits involving most types of employment
matters including wrongful termination, discrimination,
harassment, Americans with Disabilities Act
disputes, wage and hour law claims, trade
secret violations, interference with business
claims, privacy right violations, ERISA claims,
and Labor Code section 132(a) claims
Ms. Petty joined the firm
in 1992. She was previously a partner at Gray
Cary Ames & Frye in San Diego (now DLA
Piper Rudnick Gray Cary).
